The Bench...

Remember this?

Well it went from this...

To this (I painted Wed. and yesterday)...

Then I sanded and then....

It went to this after Staining!!  My friend Annie had to teach me how to stain, I had never done it before, I'm learning so much from her!  Thanks again Annie!  (I took it to the street b/c my driveway was in one big shadow from my house.)  We stained last night and I finished it up this morning.

The spot in my house I decided to put it.  It's actually a darker orange than the picture it showing it to be.

I also went out and got baskets this morning to put under it!  I needed a place to put diapers and wet wipes, these do great!

This Month So Far...

Connor (and Cade) actually loved this Asian Chicken Salad I made one night!  I thought for sure they'd either look at it and refuse to eat it or taste it and totally hate it.  But, they both ate it all up and loved every bite, especially Connor!

Aren't they such cuties?

Ok, so this little guy has an obsession with underwear!  He changes them several times throughout the day.  This day I had just done laundry so he went through the folded clothes and put on one after another.  I think I counted 7 that he was already wearing, while he was asking me to put on another pair.  Silly boy.  Oh by the way!  Cade has been doing amazing w/ potty training!  He has always done great w/ peeing, it's just #2 he had problems w/.  He refused to go in the toilet and would wait until nap or nighttime when he was wearing a diaper.  Finally he decided he didn't like that so he kept it in all together.  One day, just over 2 weeks ago, he started complaining that he was sick, I knew it had to be that he just needed to go potty, but he wouldn't go.  He was in so much pain that I went to the store and got some fiber gummies and an enema.  ugh!  I felt so bad for him, but you know what, it cleared him up right away!  He didn't have any problems going after that.  The only problem was for the next couple of weeks he still didn't go in the toilet, he went in his undies!!!!  Cameron and I were sooo frustrated, especially me, b/c apparently "it's a mother's job to clean it up."  Anyways after much prayer and lack of patience he finally started pooping in the toilet.  It's been about 3 or 4 days now, and he's doing great!!!

Last Saturday we took the boys to Trafalga here in Lehi.  They had a lot of fun.

Waiting in line to ride the go-carts.

Connor had no idea he wasn't going to get to ride, but he had fun at the time watching them!

I had to tighten the seat belt probably as tight as it would go!  He was so excited.

Can you see his little hand hanging out the side of the car?  He's such a big boy!

After coming home, we made the boys lunch and Cameron gave Cade part of his smoothie.  Can you tell he enjoyed it?

Cade and Connor trying to change the channel, notice the remote is totally upside down, but Cade "thinks" he knows what he's doing.

Tuesday we went to the Dinosaur Museum (again!) with Owen and his Mommy, Merideth :)

Photo Shoot

Two of my good friends, Annie and Lori, have been taking a photography class.  They're assigned homework for this class, so last Friday they asked me to be a "model" for them so they could complete their assignment.  I'm still not exactly sure what the assignment was, but I was excited to get free pictures out of it!  The 1st 4 are Annie's work, and the last 4 are Lori's.  Thanks ladies, it was fun ;)

Yes, I was crying, it was sooo windy and the sun was bright!

This was supposed to be a joke, I thought she was just focusing her camera!  I guess now :)

Again, the sun was sooo bright!

DIY Benches and Frames!!

My friend and neighbor invited me and a few girls over to her place Saturday, Feb. 12th, to build benches! (I kinda forgot to blog about this.)  We got the idea from this DIY furniture blog.  This was one of the easier pieces of furniture she had listed, so we figured why not try building it?!  We had a lot of fun together!  Thanks Lori for planning such a fun activity.  Oh, and thanks Cameron for letting me leave for over 3 hours to work on this!

Building my bench, and to the right are my frames (A few of us decided to make frames too!!)

Annie and Kaitlin building their frames.

Susan and Amy, yes that's right!  We used nail guns!

And of course, I had to nail my finger!  Here's the story...I was holding the top board onto the rest of the bench.  I went to staple the top while holding my fingers on the side of the bench to hold it in place and...well it came out the side and punctured my left pointer finger!  I just felt a little pressure but when I looked down there was a ton of blood flowing out of my finger like a fountain!  I didn't know what was going on, I didn't really have any pain and it looked like someone had shot me, there was tons of blood going everywhere!  Lori ran and got a paper towel to wrap around it and so sweetly cleaned up all the blood from her basement floor.  I finally went up stairs to clean myself off, but I was so scared to see what it looked like, I knew I was going to have to have stitches, there was no other explanation for losing so much blood right?  Well, when I took off the paper towel the blood had completely stopped and I only had a tiny hole.  What?  I still don't know exactly why it bled so much.  As the day continued my finger grew more swollen and could only bend my finger maybe 90 degrees, at the most!  It started really hurting, but finally after a few days the swelling and pain went down.  What's weird is, this happened almost 4 weeks ago and my finger still hurts at times.  I can't bend it all the way w/o a little pain, or put pressure on it, like using it to push anything (like snapping button's together) it hurts a lot then!  Weird right?

The finished bench, I still need to paint it.

And, my custom built frames for these wonderful paintings my Mother-in-law gave us!  (Yes, she painted them herself!!!)  I still need to figure out how I'm going to paint the frames, and also how to keep the paintings in place behind the frame, any ideas?

Anyways, we had tons of fun, other than the bloody incident of mine, these were great starter projects for our future projects!

I Did It!!

It's definitely a work in progress but, I have got my blog up in running!  I have just posted my first recipe, go and check it out!!!  With the help of my family, we decided on the name Britt's Apron!!!!  Remember, it's a work in progress, it's going to look a lot different when I'm done w/ it.
